Cuarteto Cedron was founded in Buenos Aires in 1964. At the outset, the group's aim was to broaden the tango repertoire by introducing poems that were not originally designed to be sung. The group launched with innovative ''Gotan'' cafe-concerts and performances in bookstores and galleries. As their fortunes increased, the quartet began touring and established strong ties to Europe. The dangerous political climate in Argentina forced the group to leave the country, and the settled in Paris in 1974, living there in exile until 2004. Today, the group's is by no means limited to the tango. It also includes milongas, waltzes, candombes and even cowboy songs. This collection, Anclao en Paris (Stuck in Paris) reissues five of Cuarteto Cedron's classic albums from their years in France.
