Hexagonal notebooks are an absolute requirement not only for several different careers, but for many different biology, chemistry, and science classes. Drawing chemical compounds without having hexagonal graph paper to draw them on is akin to trying to run a marathon without shoes. Of course, one can create chemical models on standard ruled paper, but they won't look nearly as neat.
