Newly revised and greatly expanded, this comprehensive up-to-date electronic book on CD-ROM presents an outstanding collection of guides and manuals about the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the training of Emergency Medical Technicians, paramedics, first responders, ambulance and emergency vehicle operators, and trauma care specialists, with instructor course guides from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Since these training courses are designed to provide national guidelines for training, it is NHTSA's intention that they be of the highest quality and be maintained in a current and up-to-date status from the point of view of both technical content and instructional strategy. To this end, NHTSA supported the current project which involved revision of the 1984 Emergency Medical Technician-Ambulance: National Standard Curriculum, deemed of high value to the states in carrying out their annual training programs. This course is one of a series of courses making up a National EMS training program for pre-hospital care. The curriculum, Emergency Medical Technician-Basic: National Standard Curriculum, is the cornerstone of EMS prehospital training. In addition, the new curriculum parallels the recommendations of the National EMS Education and Practice Blueprint. The EMT-Basic curriculum is a core curriculum of minimum required information, to be presented within a 110-hour training program. The EMT/EMS medical material covers every conceivable emergency situation and condition. In addition to the NHTSA EMS material, the disc contains an enormous library of over 100 vital military manuals and federal guides on survival and disaster preparedness. In addition to the prominent U.S. Army manuals on survival, including FM 21-76 and the multi-service manual on Survival, Evasion, and Recovery, there are many valuable handbooks and publications from over a dozen federal agencies and departments, totaling over 30,000 pages! There is material from FEMA, the Department of Homeland Security, the CIA, the Department of Justice, the Centers for Disease Control, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), EPA, Health and Human Services, VA, and NHTSA. These manuals have proven survival skills for EVERY type of disaster and situation, from the routine to the extraordinary – natural disasters, combat conditions, terrorist attacks, and much more.
