About Introduction To Sonography And Patient Care

Product Description Introduction to Sonography and Patient Care offers today’s students the training and real-world imaging experience they need to master sonography content and competencies, sets the stage for students to excel on certification exams and succeed in their professional careers . This engaging, reader-friendly book provides a powerful bridge to practice, focusing throughout on giving students a first-hand look at how they will apply their training in a clinical setting. Mirroring JRC-DMS standards in every chapter, the book provides a full overview of need-to-know content delivered at a level appropriate for future sonographers. The text includes topics often omitted in other texts, such as basic physics principles, instrumentation, knobology, patient positioning, professionalism and work ethic, equipment care, quality assurance, and legal essentials. Review "Introduction to Sonography and Patient Care is a comprehensive, well-written book that covers basic information needed by student sonographers and includes topics not included by similar textbooks. Each chapter flows into the next logically, making it easy to read and to locate information quickly. It is a good reference for its intended audience: the student sonographer. Medical imaging program educators might find this a good resource for the ethics, career exploration, leadership, student success, and communication sections. Practicing sonographers might find it a useful quick reference for keeping their skills current." Jo Gramley, MAHR, R.T.(R)(M)(CT), RDMSRadiography Program Coordinator/Assistant ProfessorHeartland Community CollegeNormal, Illinois Radiologic Technology, March/April 2017; 88(4): 429-430. From the Author Thank you for your interest in Introduction to Sonography and Patient Care.  This book was written to provide the sonography student an overview of the sonography profession and basic patient care.  As a sonographer, I greatly value the goals of the sonography student, and as an educator, I felt that it was my obligation to try to write a book that helped portray the vital role that sonographers play in health care today.  Consequently, this book contains valuable information concerning the history of the profession, ethics, ergonomics, and the importance of critical thinking and professionalism.  My hope is that this book helps provide the user with both an appreciation of clinical sonography, and a reminder to always place the patient's welfare first.
