About I Am A Dinosaur: A Dinosaur Book For Kids

“I Am A Dinosaur” is an excellent book for kids ages 3-7 who are fascinated with dinosaurs. Young children will learn current scientific thought about dinosaurs while also gaining a better understanding of how these prehistoric giants fit into Earth Science. Colorful full-page pictures of favorite dinosaurs like Ankylosaurus, Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus rex, Velociraptors, Spinosaurus and many, many more will captivate little kids while teaching them current basic facts. A sizing key will help children understand how big each dinosaur stands next to an average person, along with a simple pronunciation guide for each of the dinosaurs’ names. This is a nonfiction book created for grade levels preschool, kindergarten, and first grade. Even the biggest of dinosaurs was once a baby. “I Am a Dinosaur” tells the story of the different stages of life that many dinosaur species lived, giving children an understanding of how these prehistoric creatures evolved and have taken their place in the animal kingdom. Once outside of the egg, no matter how fierce they grew up to be, baby dinosaurs had a difficult time surviving the harsh conditions of the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods. Some dino-parents provided a protective and safe family life, while others left newborn dinosaurs to make it on their own. This is an informative book about dinosaurs for both girls and boys. Children will follow from egg to cataclysmic asteroid event that many scientists believe ended the dinosaurs time on the Earth’s surface. As kids read or follow along, they’ll find favorite dinosaurs as they introduce themselves and tell interesting facts about what makes them the unique creatures that they are. Large print and bright illustrations create an engaging prehistoric environment for kids to imagine while also enjoying learning. Nonfiction information is presented in an imaginative format. Preschoolers, kindergarteners, and first graders will learn the current facts paleontologists have unearthed about these enormous beasts of the Mesozoic era. At first, scientists believed many dinosaurs were related to today’s reptiles but after several discoveries, birds are thought to be the closer relative. Introduce young kiddos to the wonderful world of dinosaurs! An excellent educational resource for traditional, homeschool, and Montessori classrooms. Parents and teachers can use this book as a Common Core connection with many activities that can be centered around it, from digging for homemade dinosaur bones, to creating construction paper eggs and matching dinosaurs. It’s a great addition to any unit introducing elementary aged children to paleontology for kids. Questions at the back of the book help children to think on a deeper level about what they are reading or hearing and provide opportunity for independent thought. What’s a carnivore or herbivore? Are there any birds of today that remind you of dinosaurs? Why would some dinosaurs bury their eggs? Why aren’t there any dinosaurs still alive on Earth Today? Where can I go to see dinosaur bones today? Readers will find answers to these questions and many more inside “I Am a Dinosaur.” For other interesting nonfiction books in the I Am Learning Series, check out I Am Tyrannosaurus Rex, I Am Triceratops, I Am the Solar System, I Am Earth, I Am the Moon, and numerous other titles covering a range of educational topics. “This is my kindergarten daughter’s favorite book.”
