Product Description Theory and Methods of Metallurgical Process Integration analyzes the basic elements and characteristics of steel manufacturing processes and operation, also proposing a theory of precise dynamic design and integration of steel plants. Following several case studies, a new generation steel manufacturing process is proposed. Through deep description and analysis of the dynamic operation of the steel manufacturing process, this book can help readers understand that the study of dynamic integration for the "mass-energy-time-space-information" during the steel manufacturing process has to be highly emphasized in order to further promote optimization of the steel manufacturing process and plant. Review Provides new theories and procedures that streamline materials and energy flow between steel plant units, thus improving efficiency and productivity From the Back Cover Theory and Methods of Metallurgical Process Integration deeply investigates the physical essence of the dynamic operation of the metallurgical manufacturing process; describes the basic concepts, elements, and rules of the dynamic operation of process; and discusses the interaction and coordinative operation of mass, energy, and information fl ow. This book establishes the theoretical framework of the new-generation steel manufacturing process and the concepts, theories, and methods of the dynamic tailored design for steel plants. It also theoretically verifi es that the new-generation steel manufacturing process has three functions: steel product manufacturing, energy conversion, and waste treatment and recycling. Theory and Methods of Metallurgical Process Integration innovatively puts forward dynamic operation rules for the steel manufacturing process: a high effi ciency and low-cost clean steel production platform; energy flow behavior and network; and theory and methods of dynamic tailored design. These new concepts are well-described in this book. With several case studies, the engineering thinking and innovations of the new-generation steel manufacturing process are summarized. This book has features of both engineering philosophy and engineering science, which can be used for other types of process engineering and can be used to activate the thinking of researchers in engineering science. This book provides theoretical and practical guidance for engineering design, production technology, production management, and technology management. It can be used as a text and reference book by faculties and students in the field of metallurgical engineering, as well as an advanced reference book by senior engineers of iron and steel research institutes as well as managers of steel industries. About the Author Professor Ruiyu Yin graduated from University of Science & Technology Beijing in 1957, and has more than 50 year experiences on metallurgical engineering. He worked for National Bureau of Metallurgical Engineering of China as an engineer, researcher, manager and vice-minister for a long time. Since 1990’s, he paid his efforts to the popularization of key iron making and steelmaking technologies in China, such as continuous casting, PCI, technology for the elongation of BF campaigns, continuous rolling of long products, slag splashing and comprehensive energy savings by means of structure optimizing of production process. He proposed three functions of steel plants: steel product manufacturing, high efficient energy transformation and recycling of industrial wastes. Since the year of 2000, he plays an important role in designing and establishment of new generation steel manufacturing processes. He also engaged in the study of engineering philosophy and published 3 books, Metallurgical Process Engineering, Philosophy of Engineering and Theory of Engineering Evolution.
