About Alcibiades I And II: Two Socratic Dialogues By

Unique Elements Author Biography About Alcibiades I and II Alcibiades I and II is a collection of two Socratic dialogues commonly ascribed to ancient Greek philosopher Plato. This edition features English translations by Benjamin Jowett, originally published in 1892. Although credited to Plato, scholars remain divided on the question of their attribution. The First Alcibiades, also known as Alcibiades Major, is a conversation between Socrates and Alcibiades, who is represented as a very young man, with a very high opinion of himself, on the brink of entering public life. In the Second dialogue, Alcibiades is persuaded by Socrates that it is dangerous for him to pray to the gods if he is uncertain whether the outcome of his prayers would be good or bad for him.
