Best-Selling Author of Out of My Mind, Sharon M. Draper - "These books are awesome and really necessary!" From the Author Hi! And THANK YOU for your interest in the Ben's Adventures books. I am excited to share the second book in the series, inspired by my triplet son Benjamin who was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at a very young age. Although he had a challenging short life, he laughed and smiled every single day. He was strong, fun, driven and resilient. My hope is the books can show that disability does not mean inability - and all kids are capable of friendships, adventure and fun! Thank you for reading. Elizabeth About the Author Elizabeth Gerlach created the Ben's Adventures children's books as atribute to her son Benjamin who had significant needs and used awheelchair. Ben passed away in 2016 and Gerlach wanted to tell his story and spread joy in his name by showing that all kids are capable andable to do great (or even simple) things. She understands that some maybe nervous around disability, but that's OKAY. She just hopes this bookcan begin to break the barriers and show that kids are just kids.Gerlach and her husband also established the Ben Smiles MemorialFoundation, a fund dedicated to making adapted toys and other importantdevices more accessible for special needs families. Originally fromVirginia, Gerlach is a southerner at heart, but currently lives in theChicago suburbs with her husband and Ben's triplet brother and sister.
