About Preparation And Evaluation Of Diclofenac Sodium Gel

The gum was extracted from the dried seeds of Cassia roxburghii plant by two different methods, by using water as a solvent and precipitated using acetone as a non-solvent, and other by defatting method using soxhlet apparatus with petroleum ether. Physiological and the phytochemicl characteristics of the extracted gum were studied. With two different methods of extraction, the filtered gum shows better property to act as a gelling at its lower concentration to bring higher viscosity and more release through the rat skin than the other natural gelling agent like gelatin, tragacanth used at the same concentration in the above experiment. The gelling concentration was found to be lie between 6-7.5%. Exact concentration was found to be with 7 & 7.5% with its pH, viscosity and in vitro release profile and absence of irritation was proved at this concentration with the skin irritation on guinea pig.
