From the Author The I Can Fly Reading Program, is a reading program comprised of two lesson-based workbooks with a web app. This reading program provides lessons in phonics for children who are just beginning to learn to read. The methods used in this program are especially useful for students who have speech and language difficulties, APD, autism, and those with a family history of dyslexia and may be dyslexic. Based on the Orton-Gillingham approach, this program has the following attributes: The program is explicit. It is highly structured with sequenced steps. The program is systematic and cumulative. All sounds and rules are taught in a cumulative, structured manner, building important reading skills. The program is multisensory. Students use their senses to connect with what is being taught. They read with their eyes, hear the sounds with their ears, use their hands to do the workbook pages, and by using the web app, they use movement (which includes many different senses). The program allows for responsiveness. The workbooks offer many pages of exercises that can be done at the instructor's discretion. The web app provides many activities that can be done with all of the lessons, which can be revisited as often as needed. In addition, the web app provides metrics on the student, so the instructor can easily see the student's progress. This program is perfect for homeschooling, tutoring and for parents who need to help their children. There's no training needed, and the program is step-by-step, requiring no planning or lesson preparation. This program can also be used in the classroom with our Kindle version for the Smart Board or for remote teaching. All that is needed is the Kindle App (which can be used on PCs and Macs). About the Web App: Enter up to six students. Games track metrics so you can see your students' progress. Choose the lesson you're on and play the games. Students earn coins as they play, which can be spent in one of the three stores. Students can buy train pieces and create a train layout. Students can create a farm and buy food to feed their farm animals. The app contains the program's flash cards. The app includes a free letter tile teaching tool, for practice. The app is web based and can be played on any browser. The app can be used on multiple devices. For the web app, go to: ICanFlyReadingProgram (dot com).
