Hatsune Miku Hatsune Miku is a voicebank for Japanese singing voice synthesizer software Vocaloid, whose voice has featured in over 100,000 songs released worldwide. She has performed sold-out 3D concerts all over the world in the form of a hologram modeled as a 16-year old girl with long, turquoise pigtails. Touted as a virtual idol, Miku and her anthropomorphism have become a global sensation with a loyal and active fan community who have created countless animations and other media featuring her. Her name comes from merging the Japanese words for first (初, hatsu), sound (音, ne), and future (ミク, miku[a]), thus meaning "the first sound of the future", referring to her position as the first of creator Crypton Future Media’s "Character Vocal Series". What is an Otamatone? The Otamatone is a cute, quirky, and fun to play electronic musical toy characterized by its eighth note-shaped body, adorable moving mouth, and silly, buzzing, amusingly off-key "voice."
