On the 'Chase & Sanborn' radio programme of July 4, 1943, the three original Whiteman Rhythm Boys were reunited with the great band leader himself. Reminiscing about their early years together and how they came to meet the so-called 'King of Jazz', they loosely re-enacted their 1927 audition. Whiteman asked them "are you guys any good? What are your names?". Hopeful number on replied "Well I'm Harry Barris, I sing like Bing Crosby", then hopeful number two "I'm Al Rinkler, I sing like Bing Crosby too". Whiteman quipped "Well, what about you, you there with the awning?". Came the reply "I'm Bing Crosby, I sing like Dick Todd". It's doubtful if Todd ever received a better compliment coming, as it did, from the best known and most popular songster of the period. Known as the 'Canadian Crosby', this compilation pools together the best of Dick's commercial recordings from RCA & Bluebird labels. This 2CD set features 52 tracks totalling well over 2 hours playing time together with an 8 page booklet with notes and discography.
