This Mangosteen is manufactured from the the fruit's peel/hulls since this is where xanthones are found in concentrated amounts versus the fruit. If we were to use the fruit, or other fruits, then the peel's xanthone content would be diluted. The peel is the covering of the mangosteen fruit that keeps the moisture inside and the fruit from dehydrating. Since the peel is not naturally water soluble, why try to put it in a liquid?
