Aquatic Arts 1 Live Cajun Dwarf Crayfish Features

  • Cajun Dwarf Crayfish (Cambarellus shufeldtii) have a unique tan and black coloration with green mottling. They look particularly stunning against aquarium plants or colorful tank decorations!

  • These aquarium pets are active and do not hide during light hours like most crayfish. However, they thrive best in a fish aquarium with lots of plant life or aquarium décor that provides shelter.

  • They do well in most community tanks, though they occasionally have been known to eat dwarf shrimp. Bottom dwellers, like mini catfish and most crabs, are usually NOT suitable to keep with crawfish.

  • This listing is for 1 unsexed B grade young adult crayfish - a specimen that is missing a claw, or one leg or more. Lost appendages will regenerate within 1 to 2 molts (about 2 to 3 months).

  • Aquatic Arts is an American aquarium company, and all our brand of plants and animals come with a 100% live arrival guarantee, plus free email support!

About Aquatic Arts 1 Live Cajun Dwarf Crayfish

The Cajun Dwarf Crayfish (Cambarellus shufeldtii) is a miniature freshwater crayfish with an outgoing personality and unique tan and black coloration, often with green mottling. Dwarf crayfish are also known as mini lobsters, although true lobsters do not exist in freshwater. Cajun Dwarf Crayfish are very similar to the Orange CPO Crayfish in appearance and behavior, aside from the obvious difference in color. Additionally, they’re easy to care for, and feeding is simple - they feed on leftover food or almost any kind of fish food. They will also eat high protein sinking pellets, veggies, and freeze-dried or frozen foods. Dwarf crayfish like this one are among our favorite invertebrates and an excellent choice for the nano tank or planted tank, with plants such as Marimo Balls, java fern, etc. Though this crayfish is small enough not to be a threat to most other tank inhabitants, they have on occasion gone after dwarf shrimp (such as Crystal Red Shrimp, Rili Shrimp, etc.), so we cannot guarantee safety for dwarf shrimp when raising them in the same aquarium tank. Most cichlids and goldfish are aggressive toward crayfish, and most bottom feeders should also be avoided. All of our "B-Grade" crayfish are simply specimens that are missing legs or claws that we offer at an extra discounted price. Loss of limbs is not permanent and is a common occurrence with crustaceans. They are completely healthy, of great quality, and will completely regenerate lost appendages within 1 to 2 molts (about 2 to 3 months). They generally can be kept with some fast moving fish, e.g. Scarlet Badis and South American Cichlids, as well as large shrimp (like Vampire Shrimp). CARE GUIDELINES: - Temperature: 60 - 82.4° F (16 - 28° C) - pH: 6.0 - 8.0 - KH: 6 - 12 dKH - Minimum tank size: 5 gallons - Average adult size: 1.6 inches (4 cm) - Average purchase size: 1/2 - 1 inch (1.3 - 2.5 cm)
